Following is a sample dispute letter that can be used to remove errors from your
credit report. Please attach photo
copies of your credit history
and the required proofs with it. Don’t forget to highlight the erroneous
accounts. Remember; always keep the original documents with you.

Subject: Dispute letter
Dear Sir/Madam,
This letter is a formal complaint for some erroneous item/items present in
my report.
I have attached the copy of my credit report that I have received and highlighted
these items.

(NOTE: Identify all the items that you have disputed by name of source
for example creditors, tax courts and identify type of them for example, credit
account, judgment etc.)
The item that I have specified is either inaccurate or incomplete and needs
reinvestigation. (Write here your reason for the item to be incorrect
or incomplete). I am requesting you to look into this matter. Please
provide, contract, note or any other instrument bearing my signature to prove
the correctness. In case these items are errors then delete them from my report.
Please send the corrected report to all creditors who have received a copy
of it in the last 6 months for further business and employment purposes. Also
send me the description of procedure used to determine the completeness and
accuracy all the disputed items.
I am attaching the copies of documents (payment records, court documents
– attach the appropriate ones) as proofs. I will be grateful
to you if you reinvestigate this matter to clear out the erroneous data in my
credit report.
